WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“As we close in on the September 4th primary election and the party endorsements and lawn signs multiply, it is even more important for each of us to set our priorities decide for ourselves who among the candidates understands those priorities and will truly support our communities. Having had the privilege of knowing Steve Connor for the past 40 years, my husband and I believe that he is the best person to represent the 1st Hampshire District.
Having lived most of his adult life in the Pioneer Valley, Steve has worked tirelessly as an advocate for those in need from his teenage years until the present. His passion for service to others has been demonstrated by his career choices as well as the countless hours he has spent volunteering. Working human service jobs his entire life (not easy task on that salary when raising a family) he has impacted hundreds of lives in the areas of community childcare, supporting the rights of developmentally challenged citizens and for the past fifteen years in city government as the director of Central Hampshire Veterans Services supporting local veterans for eleven cities and towns. Steve’s commitment to his community extends beyond his working hours where he has spent countless hours volunteering in support of numerous organizations, charitable events and fundraisers throughout our local cities. He offers his time and talents to area schools, local shelters, food kitchens and veteran’s organizations. Whether it is cooking a spaghetti supper for a hundred people, performing as a clown for children, being an advocate for parents in public schools, or organizing groups of people, Steve has always been a person who can be counted on. His level of energy, concern and his unflagging belief that one person can make a difference is what we need in a state senator.
Along with Steve’s commitment to his community, after 15 years as the director of Central Valley Hampshire Veterans Services, he certainly understands state government and budget having to spend much time at the state house advocating and speaking in support of the needs of veterans in the western half of Massachusetts.
Steve is not a political activist, he is truly active in our communities – he is a doer. He has worked for and with our young, our disabled, our veterans and our elderly. He is more than ready to be our state senator.”
